Why Chico?
I fell in love with coffee at a very young age. Its taste, its ritual, its energy: it's impossible to start my day without it. But at the same time, I grew up with another drink that has been consumed in France for generations: roasted chicory.
It wasn't until much later that I began to see things differently. Coffee, as delicious as it was, disrupted my natural wake-up cycle and could cause me insomnia in the evening, in addition to its ecological impact, which is far from negligible. In Europe, chicory was becoming a trendy alternative, prized as much for its taste and its benefits as for its low environmental impact.
So, I tested, experimented, and mixed. And I loved it. Not as a replacement, but as a complement: a way to enjoy coffee differently, with more sweetness, less caffeine, and still just as much pleasure.
In Canada, chicory was still unknown. So, I wanted to change that. Chico is my desire to share this discovery, to offer a drink that goes beyond coffee, and to give everyone the choice to enjoy their coffee break differently. 🌿☕
